I hesitated to buy the vise, after reading the reviews for the 9 "version. It should be noted that my five star rating is based on the price of this vice. It certainly does not compare to vices which are three times the cost. .. of course. It's a bit rough around the edges, but only in so far as looks are concerned. It is a robust heavy noose that will last.

These vises feature a quick release that disengages the screw for speedy adjustment. Simply throw the lever, slide the jaw in or out and finish by turning the handle clockwise for super holding control. Features heavy cast iron construction, polished guide rods, smooth action screw and sliding stop dog. G9850 has a 7" jaws and 8" maximum opening. G9851 has 9" jaws and 10 1/4" maximum opening. Both include screws for mounting shop-made wood jaw faces.
