rare earth magnets are one of the greatest inventions, I had the pleasure to use. You can not feel the force of the magnets until you try! One of these 3 / 4 "magnets hold up to 22 pounds of weight!" I use all sizes all over my desk at work (with the exception of the computer, of course!) For hanging things. They are so strong, I can even use it on the corner of my wall (it has a metal core behind the drywall). The reason for these magnets are so powerful is due to electrons in the matrixneodymium, rare earth, they derive their name from. To maximize the use of magnets made of wood or other steel surfaces, then others, I propose to support them with a steel washer or slug, it will in turn maximize the strength of magnets.
